Graduate Division Offers Students $1000 Towards Conference Fees

Presenting and networking at research conferences is an integral part of doctoral studies, however, these experiences can be expensive.  During graduate school, many students student have the opportunity to present their research at several conferences.  Although Bioscience students receive a generous living allowance, coming up with additional costs such as registration, travel, and other fees for off-campus professional activities can be difficult.

As an additional encouragement for students to support travel associated with off-campus professional development, the UCLA Graduate Division has announced a new non-competitive Conference, Research and Professional Development Travel Grant Program.  Beginning July 1st, all new and continuing UCLA doctoral students are provided up to $1,000 to reimburse travel expenses associated with professional conferences, off-campus fieldwork or collaborative research, and/or other off-campus professional development opportunities.  Funds can be used in full or in part, any time through the seventh year of enrollment.

Students seeking this funding may find additional details on page 43-45 of the Graduate Student Financial Support for Continuing Students guide.  For more information, contact Fellowships and Financial Services at uclafellowship@grad.ucla.edu or (310) 825-1025.
